CARD: We, the Valencian people
The student mobilization known as the Valencian Spring reaches its first anniversary with around 70 disciplinary proceedings and 24 pending court cases against many of those students who were not intimidated by police brutality and who strongly protested against the cut-backs and the degradation of the quality and system of public education. In order to face up to these sanctions, Barnasants, the Lluís Vives Global Assembly and the Valencian Spring Juridical Association have organized, on Friday, 15th February, a charity concert at the Valencian “Palau de Congresos” with the best of today’s music scene of our country: Feliu Ventura, Pau Alabajos, Cesk Freixas, Meritxell Gené, Emma Get Wild, Obrint Pas, Aspencat, Mr. Perfumme, Tortel, La Habitación Roja, El Diluvi, Julio Bustamante, La Gossa Sorda, Clara Andrés, Maronda, Manolo Tarancón , Senior + El Cor Brutal, Arthur Caravan, Galavera.
The purpose of this concert is simply to collect funds and donations to meet the legal costs (solicitors, graphological tests, etc.) for the 70 open disciplinary proceedings and 24 pending court cases.
DO WHATEVER IS NECESSARY: The Valencian Spring Juridical Association and the Lluís Vives Assembly encourage you to participate in this concert, with donations to enable a first level legal defense, because we understand that accepting the penalty proceedings and allegations of the prosecution is giving carte blanche to police and government repression without precedents in the democratic history of Valencia. Moreover, we want to go wherever is necessary to denounce the violation of fundamental rights that all people prosecuted in the Valencian Spring suffered: Supreme Court, Constitutional Court, European Court of Human Rights and any other court. We will not stop until the dignity of our young ones is restored and the arrogance of the authorities responsible for those police abuses, from the Government Delegate to the Minister of Interior, is punished.

Secondly, the contribution of publishers, who throughout donating books, remind us that “Against the batons, books” and “To face repression: education and culture.” Thirdly, the Assembly of Lluis Vives Parents, Students and Teachers, who are the ones who lived through those days, that marked a generation and the recent history of Valencia. And finally, it’s a result of citizenship, especially by providing donations and hope in the fight and not give in to the logic of markets and the old party politics, but is instead determined to rescue democracy and support people. Thank you to the citizens, who said firmly and loudly: “We are the people, not the enemy.”
